Rooms - Rooms for Rochester students in the Upper White Coat Ghetto - Strong/UR area, a 2 to 4-minute walk to the hospital. This is a safe, convenient and very popular neighborhood area for University of Rochester students. You rent a room and you have access to all the common areas in the house.
High quality - We offer 5 high-quality spacious houses to students, each with four bedrooms and 2.5 to 5.5 baths. Four of the houses have brand new kitchens with granite counter tops, hard wood floor and stainless steel appliances. All houses have air conditioning and have been newly renovated. New double panel insulated thermo windows have been installed in all houses for energy efficiency and indoor comfort. Most of the tenant rooms have ceiling fans. Four of the five houses are classical prewar style and one is contemporary.
Location
Location - All houses are located in the Upper White Coat Ghetto - very close to the Medical Center. This is the best part of the White Coat Ghetto located closest to the Unversity of Rochester Medical Center and Strong Memorial Hospital. Large houses - These are all large houses in a safe neighborhood-type area in the Upper White Coat Ghetto, where University of Rochester medical and other students prefer living. The closest house is only 100 yards from the Medical Center!
Rent
Rent - Starts at $475/month and is based on size, features and quality of the individual rooms. The rent for each room is listed under the room description on each house page.
Internet
Internet - High speed wireless internet is set up by the tenants as one account for the house. One subscription, one router and everybody shares high speed internet in the entire house and on the deck or in the back yard.
Furnished common areas
Common areas - The common areas are furnished with dining room table, chairs, lamps, side tables and sofas. Common area are decorated with nice artworks. Kitchen has fridge, gas or electrical stove, micro and lots of cupboards. Actually all houses have an extra fridge either in the kitchen (89 and 95 Crittenden Blvd, 94 Raleigh Str) or in the basement (84 Raleigh Str, 115 Irvington Rd).
Tenants
Location - The location very close to the University of Rochester Medical Center drives the spectrum of tenants. Most of the tenants are related to the University of Rochester Medical Center and the Strong Memorial Hospital in one way or another. We do not restrict our tenants to just University of Rochester students, but the location has certainly influence who elects to live here.
Busy Medical Students - Several houses are typically occupied by University of Rochester medical students. This is an ideal location for the busy medical student, who does not want to spend time commuting, finding parking and who wants to live with future colleagues in an environment conducive to studying.
Tenants - It is not surprising that several houses are fully occupied by University of Rochester medical students. Other houses have graduate students at the Univerity of Rochester (working at the Medical Center),
Nursing and PhD students - nursing students both in the regular and the accelerated programs and PhD students are often living in these houses. We have also had a few researchers and visiting professors living in our houses.
Lease and move in date
Lease - The lease is for 12 months or longer.Leasing process - Once you have decided to lease a room we will send you a lease application. This is filled out on the computer and returned by email. We do a check and if you are approved we will send you the lease agreement. You will print out, read, sign and send back with a check for the security deposit. The security deposit is equal to one months rent. On the first day of the lease you will pay the first and last month's rent.
Move in date - Move in date could be anywhere from April 1st to August 1st depending on availability. You rent a room and will have access to the house with all its facilities.
